Full-bleed images welcome you to William's world
Abbr. Projects strategized, designed, and developed William’s new portfolio site to give him the tools to tell deep stories about the places, spaces, and people he sees through his lens.
Filters help visitors navigate the vast archive
We adopted a primarily monochrome palette to maintain focus on his imagery, and honor the artist’s origins as a master printer and fine art photographer.
William's logo system allows for various applications and scales
Sparing hits of electric green aid in navigation and keep the overall aesthetic fresh and modern.
Exhibit Mode
Different view modes based on interest and preference
Reflective of the organizational rigor of his physical studio, the site is segmented by stark lines and basic shapes. Portfolios can be viewed as grids reminiscent of small prints pinned to a corkboard, or in a single-image format, simulating the act of reviewing individual works of art. Exhibit mode lets the site visitor experience images in their optimal digital format.
Book shop and archive
Clocks keep time at locations beloved by the artist
Clocks corresponding with his favorite locations position William as an international man of artistry, and his press page is designed to look like a newsstand, referencing the ubiquity of his work on magazine covers around the globe.
Weighing poise with play, we imprinted lighthearted copy and quirky interactions, because if you know Bill like we do, you know his contemplative exterior belies the consummate joker within.
To celebrate the launch of the new site, we designed a book using a collection of lost 35mm film from a scout in 1990
